My Favorite Quote about the New Year is from Abbie Graham I loved the Feeling of anticipation
when I read it .
Pretend you have never been given a gift of the New Year Before .. And Lady Good Fortune is here with gifts just for you .. I open the door , A gorgeuous guest from afar sweeps in...in her hands are gifts -the gift of hours and farseeing moments ,the gift of mornings, evenings ,the gifts of spring and
summer ,the gift of autumn and winter , she must have searched the heavens for boons so rare."
IS SACRED SPACE
I know it sounds like a great idea ..A bit obscure .a little vague and a whole lot cliched like the word spiritual or spirit and it may be even a bit overused .. it really leaves for a whole lot of religious interpretation.. But really it is simple and almost ordinary ..
It is as easy as reminding or rediscovering all those interesting, unique odd and small facets of your inner self that you have collected and filed away like little treasures or snippets of who you wanted to be, or what made you happy but you didnt have time for anymore .. It is also the physical representation of those little things .. like a train ticket you saved from a trip you once took ,when you thought you might just leave everything behind and ride the train forever or a unique stone you found while walking in the mountains and you are still hoping to return to the spot one day......
...Sometimes it isnt the object but the memory or feeling that is tied to it and setting up a place to display those things, that infact might seem ordinary to others, are extraodinary reflections of you ..
When I am sharing with my clients the idea of creating a Sacred Space , Some have often said " My Home is my Sacred Space .", And yes in a sense that is true ..
Our Home is a larger representation of ourselves and it is a keeper of its own kind of magic .. it also holds the energy of the other occupants in the house and of those who visit .. so it holds energy of discussion, of laughter, .. joy ..memories ..love ... dissagreements all of those things to be sure and of course that is Sacred and should be celebrated ..
But everyone should have a little space of their own to create and for those extraordinary things to be displayed for you, yourself to revel in, meditate at, contemplate on, A space to grieve..be angry in, to cry or be in joy , to read, to write , a place to be admired and enjoyed it is your signature.. your space of calm, beauty, of chaos , your expression of your soul .
I came across what I thought was the best description of what a " Sacred Space" is while reading one of my favorite books ,, ~Romancing the Ordinary A year of Simple Pleasures~ And it reads ...
"The Word Sacred comes from the root word meaning whole , to be your own sacred self ,wholly you then , is to be connected to that of the divine spirit -god, mother earth, or the universal life force - However you see it , When you say something is Sacred to you , you mean, it is special to you in an intrinsinc way maybe it makes you feel more whole , grounded balanced ..stronger .. A Sacred Space feels inspiring peaceful comforting or healing to the body mind spirit .."
